Begin your Nara exploration at the peaceful grounds of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Walk through the tranquil lantern-lined pathways, visit the historic Ichigon Inari Shrine, and take in the scenic views at the foot of Mount Wakakusa.
2. Todai-ji Temple & Nigatsu-do Stage
Continue to the ancient Todai-ji complex. Visit Hokke-do (Sangatsu-do) before ascending to Nigatsu-do hall's wooden balcony for stunning panoramic views across the Nara Basin. Then, step inside Todai-ji's main hall (Daibutsuden) to marvel at the monumental Great Buddha, one of the world's largest bronze statues.
